The second Sunday of Kiahk

On the second Sunday of Koyahk, we read the chapter about the good news delivered by the Angel to the Virgin Mary about the birth of the Lord JESUS. As we read the chapters of the Annunciation of the Birth of John the Baptist, after 6 months the Arch Angel Gabriel came to preach the Virgin Mary the greatest good news that mankind has heard since the creation of our first parents, which is the good news of the birth of the Saviour. Something that the LORD has prepared for a thousand years, and many prophecies have been made about it since Isaiah’s prophecy “Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” And also the prophet Isaiah said, “Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?” Whoever can believe what will happen, and who has revealed the arm and power of the LORD, that a virgin conceives, and not only the amazing thing in the birth of a virgin without marriage, but there is another wonder is that the word of GOD came to the human nature, convex to him in the womb of the Virgin Mary, GOD had previously announced this in the bush burning with fire, and it had not been burned. And Moses also marveled at this matter and said; “Exodus 3:3, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.” And when he came to look, the LORD GOD called him from the centre of the bush and said to him “Exodus 3:6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” HE called him from the middle of the bush in order to confirm that this scene that prophesied the divine incarnation is a revelation from GOD about HIMSELF in HIS SON who will be born of the Virgin Mary. That is why the Apostle St Paul said “1Ti 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh” and the LORD JESUS also said to HIS disciples “John 14:9 he that hath seen me hath seen the Father”, and “John 14:10 I am in the Father, and the Father in me”. This good news that the Archangel Gabriel carried to the Virgin fulfilled what was said in the prophecies “Because the desires of the generations have come into the world”
This is how the Church lives this week in order to rejoice at the good news. This good news must enter our hearts in order to dispel all the darkness of despair and confusion. This tormented humanity who waited for GOD’S coming and HIS work, as HE said “Exodus 3:7 I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; Exodus 3:8 And I am come down to deliver them”. This good news must enter our hearts in order to give us an idea of GOD’S work, give us an idea of GOD’S intervention, give us the idea that GOD does not stand far away, that HE is yesterday, today and forever. GOD will remain faithful in the midst of the confusion that man lives. Amidst fears and tribulations, in the midst of wars, in the midst of harassment of demons and fear of the future, in the midst of the Corona epidemic, the good news comes in order to send joy in the heart of every person.
The good news in our life is an opportunity for us to seek from our fears, looking to the greatness of our GOD, who is capable of everything. The good news has come to dazzle everyone, to contemplate the wondrous work of GOD who is crossing humanity from death to life, from darkness to light, and from slavery to freedom. This is our LORD who extends HIS arm in order to cross over HIS people and go with him, in order to behold the glories and to bear witness of HIS great glory forever and ever.
This is the Virgin Mary and she receives the good news with wonderful words “Luke 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word.” By the faith that Elizabeth witnessed in the HOLY SPIRIT, this is the Virgin Mary, as she receives the good news with wonderful words “Luke 1:45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” This is the Virgin whom the Psalm said about her “Psalm 45:10 – 11 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house; So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.” This is the beautiful beauty, and these are the virtues that the Virgin Mary had so that the FATHER rose from the Heavens and did not find anyone like her in purity, beauty and humility. So HE chose her, through which the only SON would be incarnated by the action of the HOLY SPIRIT and the incarnation of the WORD in her womb. May her intercession be with us all Amen.
