The forgotten month

We are now in the last week of the of this year according to the Coptic calendar and GOD willing we will be celebrating the New Year on Friday 11th of September for the year 1737 Martyrs calendar.  We in the Coptic Church have our own calendar and it is called the Martyrs calendar and this started on the year 284 AD This was the year in which Emperor Diocletian took over the rule of the Roman Emperor and the most severe persecution began against the Coptic Church to the point that the Church took that year as a beginning to its calendar and called it the Martyrs Calendar.
The Church places the words of the LORD JESUS CHRIST about the last day and the second coming of the LORD JESUS at the end of each year in order to remember the end of the world and the second coming of the LORD JESUS.
The Second Coming is a basic doctrine of Christians. We believe that the LORD JESUS CHRIST took flesh and lived a life free from any sin and that HE fulfilled HIS mission, died on the cross, and rose from the dead on the third day, then ascended to the heavens after 40 days and sent the HOLY SPIRIT to the disciples. But the Bible says that the LORD JESUS CHRIST shall return again from the East and from the Mount of Olives, the place from which HE ascended to heaven.  On the day of the Ascension, while the LORD was speaking with HIS disciples on the Mount of Olives, HE rose while they were looking. And a cloud took HIM from their eyes. While they were looking towards the sky as HE set off, two men stood by them in white clothes, and said (Act 1:11) “O men of Galilee, why are you looking up into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come again, in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
The second coming of the LORD JESUS is not only found in the New Testament, but the Bible talks about it in the Old Testament frequently. There are so many prophecies about him, as we find all the prophets in the Old Testament prophesying the coming of the LORD JESUS again.
As for in the New Testament, the subject of the second coming is one of the most important topics that the LORD JESUS himself spoke about, whether by direct personal speech or through HIS holy prophets and messengers.
These are some of the words that the LORD JESUS said about HIS second coming.
“Mat 25:31-34 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world”

“Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.”

“Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”

The Second Coming occupies the three Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke). As for John, the Book of Revelation is unique to the events of the Second Coming. There is also the message of Saint Paul the Apostle to Thessalonica and in the Epistles of St Paul the Apostle, prophecies and many chapters, which speak of the second coming of LORD JESUS CHRIST. In addition to the letters of Saint Peter the Apostle, that is why we believe in the second coming of the LORD JESUS to judge the living and the dead, and each one will be rewarded according to his work.
Two questions we will answer them today:
How shall the LORD JESUS come?
What is the purpose of his second coming?
First: How shall the LORD JESUS come?
1- He shall personally come in person. “John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
2- HE will come in an unexpected way the LORD JESUS himself described this coming as coming unexpectedly “Mat 24:37-39 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” For this we need to prepare for the coming of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, as HE commanded us “Mat 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”
3- HE shall come suddenly: HE shall come like lightning, suddenly, this is how the LORD JESUS shall come; suddenly “Luke 17:24  For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”
4- And every eye shall see HIM: In the first coming, only some people in Bethlehem saw HIM… But in HIS second coming, every eye shall see HIM “Rev 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him”
5- Then the Bible says HE shall come on clouds in the glory of HIS FATHER. In the myriads of HIS saints “Luke 21:27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.”
6- HE shall come to judge the living and the dead, and reward each one according to his deeds. “Rev 22:12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
Who can bear HIS coming? If you are a sinner, you will ask the mountains to fall on you and cover you, and you will seek death and not find it, and if you are ready for the coming of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, you will receive the LORD JESUS at HIS coming with love, joy, and cheer (Rev 22:20) “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come. Amen. Good News
