The period of the Holy Fifty days is a period for living and the Church presents to us the LORD JESUS as the Living CHRIST who has risen from the dead, and so the Gospels during the Holy Fifty days presents to us the Bread of Life….the Water of Life… the Path for Life…and all what is liked and related to Life because this period is a period of Life. Today is the second Sunday of the Holy Fifty days and the Gospel for the Holy Liturgy is from the Gospel of St John chapter 6, the Church presents to us the Living CHRIST, the bread of Life necessary for our journey towards the Eternal Life and to enter the Kingdom of Heavens. The LORD had performed the miracle of feeding of the multitude by using 5 loves and two fish, after that the multitude started looking for HIM to make HIM a king, but the LORD JESUS said to them (John 6:26 26) “you are looking for me because you ate the bread and were filled had all you wanted, not because you believe” They replied, (John 6: 30 -31) “What miracle will you perform so that we may see it and believe you? Our fore fathers ate manna in the desert, just as the scripture says, “He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” They were meaning to ask HIM to perform a miracle similar to what Moses did with the Israelites ad fed them in the wilderness. The LORD JESUS said to them, you are happy for the Manna your fore fathers ate in the wilderness and died, only one generation of your fathers ate the Manna after getting out from Egypt but still they died, but the true Bread WHO came from the Heavens is not for one generation but for all the generations and nations and who ever eats from IT shall never die, then the LORD JESUS started explain to them about this BREAD and its characteristics. 1- Bread coming down from the Heavens: the LORD JESUS says “John 6:41 I am the bread which came down from heaven.” Before the birth of the LORD JESUS from our Lady the Virgin Mary, HE was in Heavens, meaning that before this BREAD came from the Heavens HE was in the Heavens (John 16:28 ) “I did come from the Father, and I came into the world;”   for this the LORD JESUS was called the bread coming from the Heavens. This BRAD coming from the Heavens is living Bread. 2- The Living BREAD: “John 6:35 “Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life.”  The Living bread means that it has life in itself.  The LORD JESUS is the only one who has life in HIMSELF, no one else has life in himself, even the Angels they were given life from the LORD GOD, (John 5:26) “For as the Father hath life in himself; he Gives the Son to have life in himself” so HE is a Living Bread. 3- True Bread: (John 6:35) “I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty.” The bread we buy and eat from the supermarket, we feel hungry again and we need more to eat, this is because it is not true bread.  But the LORD JESUS is a True Bread (John 6:55) “For my flesh is the real food; my blood is the real drink.” he man eats from IT and never goes hungry again The Jews had their understanding only confined on the materialistic things only, just as the Samaritan lady when she said “John 4:15 Sir, give me this water,Then I will never be thirsty again” They also said (John 6:34)” give us this bread always.” You, O man, why confine yourself in material matters?  What is the satisfaction the LORD JESUS gives us? (Psalm 73:25) “there is nothing upon earth that I desire beside you.” Anything other than this is a lie with no satisfaction.  I think that I am happy and satisfied, but this is not true, the true satisfaction is when I am joined to the LORD JESUS. So HE is the True Bread and he whoever believes in HIM neither goes hungry or thirsty. HE is Bread coming from Heaven, Living bread and True Bread. 4- Gives Life: HE is a life giving Bread, he whoever eats from HIM lives forever, the LORD JESUS says (John 6:54) “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day” The LORD JESUS gave us HIS body to live. This is the Bread the LORD JESUS gives us daily on the Alter.  On the Thursday of the Covenant HE took bread, broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Mat 26:26) All the faith of the Christian man is in John chapter 6, all our belief as Christians in the Holy Liturgy when we open our moth and eat the HOLY BODY and drink the HOLY BLOOD we do this with true faith and belief that this is truly the BODY and BLOOD of the LORD JESUS who came from the Heavens, IT has life in it and gives eternal life for whoever eats from IT. My brethren; we should be keen to attend the Holy Liturgy when the Churches open again, GOD willing, and we eat the HOLY BODY, which we were deprived from for a long time now, because this is the everlasting food for the Eternal life if we take with it deservingly and willingly, then we will receive the remission of sins and Eternal life, and we, with the LORD JESUS, WHO is raised from the dead, will have a share and an inheritance in the Kingdom of Heaven.   Good News
