Jesus and the Blind Man

Today’s Gospel is from the book of St Mathew chapter 12 and it is about a simple quick miracle done by the LORD JESUS, a blind man possessed by the devil and he was dumb was brought to the LORD JESUS and HE cured him.  The dumb spoke and became sighted.
We are in front of two acts here, the act of the devil and the act of GOD the LORD.
The work of the devil detaches the man from himself, the others and from GOD Almighty.  Always the work of the devil is to detach and separate, on the contrary, the work of GOD Almighty unites and gather together.
When the demon possesses someone, the first thing he does is to detach him from himself, he makes him unaware of himself so that this man will not look to himself and discover that he is living in sin, he separates him from those around him so that he will not look to the others and to know their needs and thus work to satisfy those needs. He separates him from GOD.  When a man is separated from himself and from those around him, he is actually separated from the LORD GOD.  He separates him from the LORD GOD so that he cannot communicate with GOD, dumb, unable to talk to GOD nor with those around him.  Blind, he cannot see GOD or HIS acts, and so the man who is possessed by the devil is a dead man, this is the work of the devil.
Demon possessed, blind and dumb means a complete domination of the devil over the mind, eyes and tongue.  This man used to live and dwell in the grave yard and graves, shouting as a crazy man because he was actually crazy, so they used to chain him up with chains but he cuts the chains and hurts himself with the stones, a deadly demon, this is the work of the devil, but thanks to the LORD who gave us the power “Luke 10:19 Behold, I give to you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions” and HE also said “Mat 10:8  Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. You have received freely, freely give.”
This was the work of the devil, but the work of the LORD GOD in the man is very clear.  The man in whom the spirit of GOD dwells is a single united man.  What does it mean a single united man?  It means that there is no conflict between his ideas, heart, body or spirit, there is a unity and harmony between them.
The man in whom the spirit of GOD lives in is not detached or separated from the others, you find always asking about them and their needs and works to help them.
The man, in whom the spirit of GOD lives in is in continuous contact and connection with the LORD GOD, he can worship, lifts his hands up in prayer and praising, he can get into a dialogue with the LORD, he is not dumb.  He can see the work of the LORD GOD in his life and in the lives of the others and thus such a man is a satisfied man, joyful, he is living the fruits of the HOLY SPIRIT; he lives in peace, joy and love.
We are invited today to differentiate between the acts of the LORD GOD and those of the devil.  There are some people who can not differentiate between those two acts, and there are others who attribute the work of GOD to the devil and that of the devil to GOD.
For example, if someone neglects his spiritual life and goes into temptations and hardships, or neglects his health and gets sick, he attributes all this to the LORD GOD and says that this is the will of GOD and starts blaming GOD for doing this to him, he attributes the work of the devil to the LORD GOD “Jas 1:13 Let no one being tempted say, I am tempted from God. For God is not tempted by evils, and He tempts no one.”
Sometimes the work of the LORD GOD is attributed to the devil, such as “Mat 12:24 But when the Pharisees heard, they said, This one does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons.”  Isn’t this strange, the LORD JESUS casts the devil out of this miserable man, gives him back his sight and makes him able to talk, and the people can’t differentiate between the work of GOD Almighty and that of the devil.  How comes Beelzebub the ruler of the demons casts out the demons?  Can a demon cast out a demon?  If the demon cast out a demon then his kingdom is divided and “Mat 12:25 Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation.” The Pharisees were not able to recognise the work of GOD in the man and attributed it to the devil.
Today we are invited to differentiate between the work of GOD and that of the devil, and to see the work of GOD in our lives and in the lives of the others and to give Glory and Praises to the LORD our GOD. Good News.
