The Nayrouz Feast

Today is the first Sunday of the Coptic year 1735. The Psalm for today says “Psalm 65:11 You crown the year with Your goodness” and the word goodness means good things, so we are asking the LORD GOD to bless the crown of the year with HIS goodness even if we are not worthy because even when we are not trustful HE remains trustful.

Today we must pray so that this New Year will be filled with spiritual work, the love of GOD, repentance, and close attachment with the LORD GOD. We pray so that this New Year will be filled with joy, peace, filled with our love and helping for each other.

It can be a call from the LORD GOD for us today so that we renew our covenant with HIM in the beginning of this New Year and HE is capable to enter into our lives and fills it with blessings and joy.

Life without the LORD JESUS hasn’t got a meaning. Why?

When GOD created man HE said “Gen 1:26 And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness.” Notice here there are two things (image and likeness), then the LORD GOD says “Gen 1:27 And God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him.” But HE did not say likeness, why is that?

Because the role of the LORD GOD was to create us on HIS image and our role is to be on HIS likeness, so HE created us on HIS image and asked us to be on HIS likeness. Of cores the image was distorted with the man and became dark and neither Adam nor his children were able to be on GOD’S likeness, for that the LORD GOD incarnated to bring us back to this image, and this we get through Baptism, then HE lived among us in an ideal life to lead us to be on HIS likeness.

When someone is been asked to do a certain job is that he asks himself (if the LORD JEUS is in my place what would HE has done?) Will HE do this and that or HE will do something else? Saint Paul says “1Co 11:1 Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ.” And we pray and say (in everything always may abound in every good deed), when the LORD JESUS joins us in any work we do then definitely we become on HIS likeness.

Let us in the beginning of this New Year start a good start, as we pray in the morning prayer and say (may we start properly), the first thing we ask the LORD GOD every morning is to start properly, as St Paul when he says (2Co 5:17) “old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Let us be new with the LORD JESUS in this New Year.

May the days be filled with blessings and grace, and whatever mistakes we did may we not repeat them again and we live our days from glory to glory . Good News
